Kevin Harvey – 1.6 Laser

Purchased by the current owner way back in February 1992 this Capri Laser 1600cc was soon pressed into service as a daily driver, which it still is to this day.  The vehicle began to corrode badly in 1996 but luckily this coincided with the owner attending a car restoration evening class at South Kent College,Ashford. The Laser thus became a project car. The car returned to the highway in April 2003 after a  major and often difficult rebuild. Indeed the owner walked away from the garage muttering “never again” many times! Although appearing standard it does have minor mods to aid driveability on modern roads including an ‘A’ frame on the rear axle. The Laser was ‘Reader Star Car of the Month” in the July  2003 issue of Practical Classics and has also appeared in Classics Monthly and RetroFord magazine. Way back in 1993 it also appeared briefly on local television who covered a meeting of the then Kent Capri Club. The car is often exhibited at motoring events throughout the Summer and won a third place trophy at Bovington, Dorset in 2004.
