Pete and Tracy’s Mk1 Facelift

Our Mk1 Facelift has been in the club for some years first owned by Michael Barlow. When Tracy and I took the car on the car was in a sorry state but basically a sound car for restoration but it did needed a lot of work. Tracy was keen to keep the car as original looking as possible and only period modifications were allowed. To this end we have kept with the pinto although this one is a 2.1 with big valves and 45’s on the side, but it would have been done in 1972 so I’m still within the rules. So far the body work and re-spray have been done we both agreed that Daytona Yellow wasn’t for us so a subtle Light Fern Green Metallic was chosen – a period Ford colour. The engine has been re-built with a Vulcan 2.1 bottom end and the suspension re-furbished (this is from a 2.8i but it still looks period). There’s still loads more left to do before the car is back on the road but we can see the end insight as we can now start putting the car back together. Fingers crossed for some summer motoring in 2008!
