After a successful eBay car search campaign we’ve finally found the car for the rallies! Ok, in case you don’t know, I’ll roll it back a bit. Me and a few mates have decided to do a couple of banger rallies round Europe next year. The first step is to get a car.
So, all up to speed! We settled on The Mirth Mobile, well it’s like the car from Waynes World. A lot bigger though. Imagine the Ferris Bueller scene where he describes the car….queue music….
A 1976 Reliant Scimitar GTE 3.0L Manual. Only several thousand were made. May I present…the car!
Just been reading that MySpace has signed up to Google’s OpenSocial platform. OpenSocial is designed to allow developers to build applications that work on any website. It’s the big competitor to FaceBook which opened it’s API to deveopers in May 2007. Another battle brewing here.
My question is this. Why? Based on my experience of FaceBook applications, 99% are a waste of time. Do we really need hundreds of incarnations of the “X Me” application, or “FunWall”, “BigWall”, “WallWall” and the other thousands of clones? The tools are being developed ahead of the actual need. There’s no “need” for most of the applications on FaceBook, but the tools exist to create them very easily.
Sounds like a clear case of technology moving quicker than the wisdom to yield it.
Just got hold of some 80’s New Wave 12 inchers. Amongst them are Strawberry Switchblade. They hit number 5 in 1984, then pretty much failed to get any higher. Glaswegian gothic industrial. Nice. Check them out!
Ok, its been a while since I posted. It’s been a busy month! Enough excuses. I’m back now. With a little rant.
So I had to use the tube today. I hate it. When a train eventually turns up it’s invariably crammed with commuters like those pickled people souvenir jars. Bizarre comparison, I know! But what is really annoying are the pole huggers. These are the people that need to lean on the vertial poles, or wrap themselves around it like a stripper in a seedy night club. The reason they need to do this? Because they’re typing on a BlackBerry or reading a book and are incapable of either using one hand or balancing.
It’s pure selfishness and completely unnecessary. Don’t do it!
