My parents have been visiting this weekend and we decided to visit Madame Tussauds. It turns out that the dummies aren’t all made of wax. My Dad was waiting patiently away from the crowds in the world leaders section when a foreign tourist decided to take a few snaps!
I’ve no idea who they thought he was. Either they were genuinely mistaken, or had no interest in what they were seeing and snap happy!
So Phil managed to score us some free tickets to an advanced screening in Covent Garden. Cheers Phil.
I have to say, without a doubt, its one of the best movies I’ve seen. It’s awesome. The special effects are brilliant, you can hardly tell they’re CGI (aside from the fact there are no such things as giant robots). I won’t say my favourite bits just yet as I know most haven’t seen it.
It’s actually making me seriously consider buying a 5.1 system and a BluRay/HD-DVD player for when its released on DVD. It is just that good. Really does justice to the original transformers of my youth.
Go see it. You will not be disappointed. I will be off to see it again.
Hi All. After a brief break in posts I’m back. I’ve moved the site across to WordPress on my own host now. As I’ve got into this a little bit its worth the small investment in hosting. I’ve also got version 1 of my theme. Constructive criticism gratefully accepted. A couple of CSS issues to fix and it’ll done.
Check out this publicity stunt to promote the new Simpsons movie. Next to the 150ft fertility figure at Cerne Abbas. Apparantly, the pagans are trying to perform a rain dance to wash it away.
Nicely.
Those guys over at BlendTec have done it again. Their legendary Will It Blend series of videos has now turned an iPhone into a (very) small pile of dust. Others in the past have included light bulbs, glow sticks, iPods and other every day items.
Whilst its fun to watch him blend these objects it is also a very good example of a company embracing the internet and really engaging customers in its products. I’ve been watching these videos for a while and all I can say is I want one of those blenders! They will blend anything, that’s the message their videos are sending. Look at the photo!
It’s a genius piece of internet marketing. Consumers get to watch a video turning an everyday object into dust. Its being done in a safe manner and we can all enjoy the process. Whilst this is going on we are being show-cased the companies products.
In my work we are constantly trying to engage the end user to produce a positive experience that offers real value. Compare this approach to how the music industry is engaging end users. Providing limited on-line support, expensive downloads, the negative press of prosecuting 14 year olds, etc. They are constantly battling against the very people they should be engaging with. BlendTec on the other hand will thrive on the internet. As more and more consumers switch from the high street to on-line, the companies that don’t move will ultimately fail. The internet is a very competitive market. Instead of a few local shops there is potentially a global market to enter in.
A lot of online industries and retailers can learn a lot from BlendTec’s approach. In the meantime, I’ve got to get one of those blenders. I don’t blend that much, but come on! It blends a lawn rake for god’s sake!
I read, with little surprise, that the demonstration of the Orbo device has been postponed indefinitely. The Orbo is supposed to be a perpetual motion machine capable of producing unlimited, free, clean energy. The website does not give any technical detail, only that a group of scientists are testing the device.
Results are slow going though, as these scientists “do have day jobs”. Come on, something that could bring the very foundations of all science crashing down around us? Is this not something these scientists would drop everything to test. Apparently not.
The device was due to be demonstrated at London’s Kintetica art gallery last week, but was cancelled as the heat from the lights on it caused a defect. Firstly, the fact that its being shown to the world in an art gallery as opposed to a scientific symposium says something. Secondly, you can get bulbs that redirect heat away from the target. Or use fluorescent bulbs!
To summarise. No demo. No technical detail. No results. No idea where the energy comes from. Basically, no idea. I’ve made my mind up, how about you??

Internet weirdness strikes again. This one has been around for a little while I think, well at least since the Family Guy episode. Rick rolling is tricking people into watching the video for “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley.
So, check out this link, thats not Rick Astley – YouTube
Its been reported that O2 is about to sign an exclusive deal to sell the Apple iPhone. Its been rumoured for a week or two that Vodafone got the deal. But the latest news says its O2. They hope to have the iPhone in stock for Christmas. It will probably sell for about £300 on contract.
Best news is. My O2 contract is up for renewal early next year. Nice!
The current internet phenomenon? I think so. Check it out.
